Our Mission
The Alliance Française du Maine (AFDUME) is an energetic educational and cultural 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization that is committed to the promotion and appreciation of the French language in Maine. Through high-quality language instruction, cultural programming, film screenings, including the Festival Champlain - the only French language film festival in Maine, lectures and culinary events, AFDUME offers opportunities for lifelong learning and authentic engagement with French and Francophone traditions. Welcoming individuals of all ages and backgrounds, AFDUME serves as both an educational resource and a cultural bridge, enriching the state of Maine with programs that inspire curiosity, broaden perspectives, and celebrate the richness of global Francophone heritage.
AFDUME also aims to be the “information hub” for the French language in Maine by promoting organizations and events in support of the French language, such as a list of French-language conversation tables that occur throughout the state, and French radio hours on local stations around the state. Check our website often for the latest French-related news and events offered throughout Maine.
